The "Automatic Recovery" message is because Audacity has detected that a previous project crashed.
Was the listed project ("Episode 5 (Maya Harris)...") originally created in an earlier version of Audacity?

Could it be related to the audio interface disconnecting while the Mac sleeps? Yes it could. Every other app seems to handle that fine, but Audacity needs to be restarted to find the audio interface again Or you can "Rescan Audio Devices" (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/transport_men...
