Have you tried restarting Audacity? In most cases after a crash, Audacity will be able to automatically recover the project, which then allows you to safely save the project. Autotune plug-in requires iLok. iLok only works in host applications that support iLok. Audacity does not support iLok. Therefore, it is not possible to run Autotune plug-in in Audacity. iLok is a "security" (digital rights management) device that prevents plug-ins that are iLok protected ...

It appears that the change to Truncate Silence was made in 2010. Compress all sound from .22 seconds to 1.00 seconds by 50% and Truncate all sound 1.00 seconds to 2.00 seconds to 1.00 I've tested a very old version of Audacity (1.3.14 beta) to see how it used to work, and I'm not sure that it worked...
