Re: Motu Adio Express with Audacity
Connect the Motu to the computer. Look in the Windows Sounds control panel. Is the Motu available as a recording / playback device? If it is, send an audio signal into the Motu and see if the green recording meters in the control panel respond. If they do, Launch Audacity and open "Help > Diagn...

I don't hear (or see) any "buzz" in that sample, though I can hear the Noise Reduction effect

Re: Error Importing mp3
Well, that didn't tell me anything I didn't know (unless I used it wrong). A typical output from MediaInfo is like this: General Complete name : 3.mp3 Format : MPEG Audio File size : 330 KiB Duration : 8 s 411 ms Overall bit rate mode : Constant Overall bit rate : 320 kb/s Track name : 3 Track name...

Re: How does ACX check evaluate noise level?
With MP3 I don't know if there's a limit. MP3 uses floating point but it doesn't store the individual samples and it "tries" to throw-away stuff you can't hear. But, "stuff you can't hear" is mostly based on masking and I'm not sure if there's an absolute level where it starts a...

Re: Media Info doesn't match Format Options selected for Exported MP3's
It may also be easier to get gapless playback with M4A. To achieve exact gapless playback, the exact amount of encoder delay must be written into the file. As far as I'm aware, the core specifications for MP3 and AAC (M4A) do not do this. For both AAC and MP3, there's a "fix" available, w...

Re: Media Info doesn't match Format Options selected for Exported MP3's
M4A is also supposed to be more tolerant of multiple generations of lossy compression. From a technical point of view, that does not sound very likely. There's much hype about compression formats, and there's been big money for Apple in getting people to buy into the iTunes ecosystem. Meaningful co...

Re: Media Info doesn't match Format Options selected for Exported MP3's
generally high bit rates and small files, seems to be about 2 MB / minute of audio. That looks about right. As a rule of thumb, uncompressed CD quality stereo audio is around 10 MB/minute. When MP3 became popular as the de facto standard for Internet audio, the recommended compression was 128 kbps,...

Re: My Feedback/Usage
Thanks for posting your informative review. Have you tried Audacity's "Repair" tool yet? (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/repair.html) It can be very effective for repairing single clicks. Audacity's Click Removal effect will sometimes make a bit of improvement, and is unlikely to...
