Re: Cut Lines Feature
I've just tested with Audacity 2.3.2 on macOS Mojave and it's working fine whether I use "Edit menu > Cut" or "Command + X". but you can use current Audacity's Cut Lines feature to place a vertical line at which audio was cut out. I'm not sure that I understand what you are tryin...
Re: Tool Tips
Audacity does not provide a way to turn off tool tips (unless you build Audacity from the source code). MacOS does not provide a way to turn off tool tips, but it does provide a way to change the time delay before tool tips appear, so perhaps this will help: https://www.macworld.com/article/1055202/...

Re: Slow startup on new SSD based system
Error: Couldn't find symbol 'AudacityModule' in a dynamic library (error 127: The specified procedure could not be found.) I don't claim to be a Windows expert, but I think that error is usually related to conflicts due to multiple dlls with the same name. I'd suggest removing all versions of Audac...

Re: Cut Lines Feature
They work for me on Linux, and I'm not aware of it not working on other platforms.
The feature has to be enabled in Preferences (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tra ... ences.html), and it only works when "cutting" (not "deleting") audio.

I've replied here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=105678aud2019user wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 9:30 pmMy issue is not about speed but about preserving the Hard Drive by avoiding writing to it, to make it last longer.
I'll close this topic so as to avoid the confusion of parallel threads.

Re: To protect HDD, work only on RAM
As I wrote in the other topic, if you really want to use RAM, you could create a RAM disk, though it's really not worth the effort for speed or longevity. I used my old laptop for about 7 years, and it was subject to extreme use in that time. It was used for audio work, and for compiling software (w...

Re: Clipfix damage stereo track sync
Is there any alternative? Alternative to what? The "Loudness War" was not really a problem in the 1950's. Yes they did have "dynamics compression" back then, but nothing like the severe compression / limiting of modern recordings. The problem with compression, is that it's impos...
