Re: Catalina microphone issue with Audacity

If I recall correctly, there was a similar problem in the pre-release version of Mojave, which magically disappeared in the release version.

Re: Inserting a timestamp into a doc

Version 2.1.3 That's a pretty old version. The current version is 2.3.2 and is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ Is there a simple way to insert a timestamp - the Audio Position - into a document You mean the time relative to the start of the track (...

Re: Vinyl LP Digitization - USB and Bit Depth

The document says to record in 32-bit. Does that matter if the USB device is 16-bit? No, that doesn't matter. It is recommended to record in 32-bit regardless of the recording device. When recording from a USB device does the "signal" remain digital all the way into Audacity? The USB devi...

Re: Catalina microphone issue with Audacity

Audacity does not officially support pre-release operating systems. I am unable to record audio with either the microphone or USB. No sound. Have you checked the microphone permissions? It may be slightly different on Catalina, but here's the instructions for Mojave: https://forum.audacityteam.org/v...

Back to the error.
I don't know the cause of that error message, so I've written to the developers asking about it. I'll post back when/if I know more.

Re: Slow startup on new SSD based system

Select "Help menu > Diagnostics > Audio Device Info". Wait for the info to appear (I'm guessing this will take 10 seconds or more), then click the "Save" button and save the info to somewhere convenient (such as your Desktop). Attach the file to your reply. (How to attach files t...

Re: Slow startup on new SSD based system

I've checked on a Windows 10 machine, and I see the error message in the log: 12:06:51: Error: Couldn't find symbol 'AudacityModule' in a dynamic library (error 127: The specified procedure could not be found.) This particular machine does have other versions of Audacity, and has had "modules&q...

Re: Slow startup on new SSD based system

Have you ever installed any Audacity "modules" (such as "Nyquist Workbench")?
(The only reference I can find to this exact error message is this post from 2015: http://audacity.238276.n2.nabble.com/Qu ... 71200.html)

Re: FREE PLUG IN EFFECT/EQULIZATION FOR ACOUSTIC GUITARS

Of course, Audacity's built in effects can be applied to acoustic guitar (or any other sounds). There's a lot of free VST plug-ins available from KVR (https://www.kvraudio.com/) Note that VST3 and VSTi are NOT supported by Audacity. Commercial plug-ins that include copy protection / encryption / key...
