Re: Permission issues when opening up smb/cifs mounted files
I've just checked, and Audacity doesn't support SMB protocol. What I generally do is to just copy the files to a local disk. Also, note that it is a bad idea to work on "projects" on a network drive because Audacity expects immediate access to its data. There is no network buffering built ...

If that happens, see: viewtopic.php?f=46&t=100117kozikowski wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 2:32 pmYou might also discover that your microphone vanished because you don't have permission to use it.

Re: Burbly/metallic sounding recordings
Does the recording sound "burbly/metallic" in Audacity itself, or only when you export the recording? If it sounds "burbly/metallic" in Audacity itself, look in the Windows Sounds settings and ensure that ALL Windows Sound "Enhancements" are disabled. See: https://manua...

Re: recording level too high or low, There's no gradation.
I spoke with Rode Microphones and they don't think it's the microphone, they think it's something to do with Audacity. I agree that it is unlikely to be due to the microphone, but to be sure, you can easily test that by recording with the microphone in another app. Even Windows Voice Recorder is su...

Re: how can I calculated average Sound intensity (dB)?
all I want is the average "relative loudness" for each minute in each video This isn't exactly what it was designed for, but the "Contrast" tool will give you the "RMS" average for whatever audio you have selected (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/contrast.html)

Re: Updated De-Clicker and new De-esser for speech
I downloaded a file from this thread called "DeEsser.ny" but it won't open. See here for how to install Nyquist plug-in in Audacity 2.3.2 on Windows: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_effect_generator_and_analyzer_plug_ins_on_windows.html#nyquist_install If you don't have Aud...

Re: Meters: RMS Level Momentary Bar
I have logged this feature request as:
"Peak Hold" for RMS level: Similar to the vertical bar that displays the highest peak of the last 3 seconds, but for the RMS level when "RMS" is selected as the meter style.
