I'm sure someone will be happy to do so, but please start a new topic for that (it rapidly becomes very confusing to be discussing multiple things in the same topic).

Re: CALL: Configuration as comparative sound recorder
There is no way to configure Audacity to do that. It would be "possible" (but rather complex) to create a Python application that uses Audacity as the back end for playing and recording. There is some information here about controlling Audacity from Python https://manual.audacityteam.org/m...

it was more a light blue bar Was it like this: https://manual.audacityteam.org/m/images/b/bb/multi_tool_selecting_with_cursor.png If so, then that's when the "Multi-Tool" is selected. (More info here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/multi_tool.html) As you've discovered, you can use t...

Re: generate/tone
presently 2.1.3 That's a pretty old version. The current version is 2.3.2 and is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ but the generate/tone feature gives a tone with way too many sub harmonics eg starting with 500 Hz I get 250, 125 giving a very impure result f...

Re: Audacity won't open
Interesting - Windows doesn't use a lock file. A full reboot should do the job. Note that "shutting down" Windows 10 does not by default "shut it down". For a full shut-down:
Windows start menu -> Shift + click the power button -> Select "shut down"
Windows start menu -> Shift + click the power button -> Select "shut down"

Re: Renaming Multiple Tracks
Nice video, though I thought it a bit unfair to complain about the answers given 5 years ago and then say "but hey, Audacity already has this functionality, if you know where to look for it." 5 years ago, Audacity did not have this functionality, but in response to user's "feature req...

Re: Selection too long for analysis by ACX check..but this never happened before
Did you change the work? If you decided to produce in stereo (two tracks) instead of mono, the size of the show will have doubled. That will double the size of the project, but it is not relevant to the error message. ACX-Check is limited to a length (duration) of 100m samples, (not a "size&qu...
