At least it used to be - appears that Ubuntu have made changes to the sound system, but I'm uncertain at this stage what they've done. I do see on Google that quite a lot of people are reporting audio problems in Ubuntu 19.04.

The short answer: Your Ubuntu sound system is broken. Have you uninstalled PulseAudio? PulseAudio is the default sound system in Ubuntu, but no sign of it in your audio device info.
How did you install Ubuntu 19.04?

Personally, I like to avoid using too much dynamic compression. Modern commercial recordings are typically compressed to extremes, which in my opinion, robs them of much of the life and excitement of live performances. I also get transport bar type icons (play button, record button etc.) and/or edit bar icons superimposed over the drop down menus for audio source, playback, etc. which don't go away when I click outside the area.
