In the "Audio Midi Setup", what is the sample rate set at for the cassette player?

Please post a screenshot that includes the panel on the left end of the track.

If you want to select an audio clip, double click on it.

If there is a split line between two adjacent clips, clicking on the split line will join the two clips.

If you check the Auto-Tune Website you'll find it does not support Audacity.

Are you recording a real (acoustic) piano with microphones?
What are your settings in the device toolbar?
Which version of Audacity (look in "Help menu > About Audacity").

"Normalizing" from -6 dB up to -1 dB just makes the audio a bit louder. There is no change to the "quality" of the sound, but by being a bit louder, you won't need to turn up the volume on the playback system quite as high, so there may be a very slight improvement to the signal ...

To avoid clipping in your exported files, use the "Normalize" effect as the last effect prior to exporting.
