Ensure that your computer is fully updated well before you start (allow time to fix any problems that Windows update may bring), then disable Windows update for the duration. Similarly for your anti-virus.

Re: cannot select and delete when editing mp3
I highlight (select) a section How are you doing that? Is the waveform correctly selected as shown on this page: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audacity_selection.html then Edit Cut, or Delete How are you doing that? Do you see the selected audio removed? Does it play as expected directly afte...

Re: auto reduction in volume of my music!
Whenever I edit or apply an effect the volume is being automatically reduced. My guess is that you are referring to "Nyquist Effects" (those below the divider line in the Effect menu). Nyquist plug-ins don't yet support envelopes. When you apply a Nyquist effect to a track that has envelo...

Re: A macro to add silence depending on the cursor position
The forum will probably accept it if you add ".txt" to the file name. Example: "myscript.py.txt"marceloros wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 7:37 pmShould I convert it to a TXT file or is there another way?

Re: No Sound Playing Cassette on Win 10 - solution
When I double clicked on the Microphone Array in the Sound control panel & opened the Listen tab I noticed that the "Listen to this device" option checkbox was unchecked. Once I checked it I could hear the cassette playing. That is one of the solutions. Just for completeness, the othe...

Re: Any way to save a custom layout? i.e. which toolbars show upon opening?
Last time it didn't, not sure why... It'll only save the layout when the last window is closed. Perhaps you had a window behind the other windows that didn't have the new layout (?). I'm just guessing and we will probably never know what actually happened ;) Oh, no, I just tried it and the part whe...

Re: A macro to add silence depending on the cursor position
It's difficult for me to work out what you are doing because you've not shared your Python code, but I'd guess you need something like:
Code: Select all
fname = "C:/Docs/VisualStudio projects/myfile.aup"
...
message = f'SaveProject2: Filename=\"{fname}\"'

Re: Any way to save a custom layout? i.e. which toolbars show upon opening?
If you launch Audacity (one and only one Audacity window), set the window size and toolbar layout as you want it, then close Audacity, the window size and layout should be remembered the next time you launch Audacity. Having said that, why do you need to have 9 windows open at the same time? Audacit...

Re: Why can't I hear audio while recording?
Your profile says that you have Windows 10. Do you have a Windows machine as well or is your profile incorrect? I record with a mic that plugs into a regular Mic Jack in the back on the G4 tower. My problem is that I cannot hear sound when I record with audacity. Where are your headphones plugged in...
