Re: Recording what my headphones hear / fully digital capturing
"Loopback" recording is when the audio data that is being sent (played) from the computer to the headphone socket / speakers, is also fed back ("looped back") to the recording input. Because this is all in the digital domain, there is no added noise. The headphone output from you...

Check in the Windows Sounds control panel that the X2222 recording setting is set to "2 channels (stereo)".

Re: Audacity not encoding mp3 with new Audacity download (OS10.14.6)
LAME is built into the current version of Audacity.
The current version is "Audacity 2.3.2", and it is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/

Re: System Audio balance reset at audacity startup
And would not take much time to add either. Are you a C++ developer? It looks pretty complicated to me. It is such a shame that people who have hearing disability (such as me) have to stick to 7 years old version. Why not use the Wiindows mixer to adjust the pan? I realise that would be a slight in...

Re: Recording what my headphones hear / fully digital capturing
I'm pretty sure even having not tried these interfaces that there is guaranteed to be some hiss and not silence. WHY THE HELL IS THAT! It's because all electronic components produce some noise - it is an unavoidable fact. Even a piece of copper wire produces a tiny bit of noise ("thermal noise...

Re: Not recognizing audio from turntable after Catalina Update
Was it previously working with Mojave?
You may need to check that after the upgrade, Audacity still has permission to access the "microphone" (which means, any recording device).

Re: New Envelope tool glitch
Audacity 2.1.2 already uses the new format, so there is no "conversion" necessary. The new format was introduced with Audacity 2.0.0.

Re: Audacity 2.3.2 No stereo Windows 10
Check the settings in the Windows Sound control panel. Windows will usually set devices that it "thinks" are USB microphones to "1 channel (mono)".
Once you've told Windows that it's a stereo device, that setting should stick, so you should not need to set it every time.

Re: Doubts on WASAPI exclusive mode
if my input device is set to 96kHz but in Audacity I set 48kHz and then record in WASAPI exclusive mode the recorded sound should be at half speed. It "may" be half speed. I've seen it happen both ways on different computers :? Although Microsoft's documentation says that WASAPI exclusive...
