The current version is Audacity 3.0.2.

Perhaps (I don't remember) Audacity 2.4.2 requires playback to be stopped rather than just paused

Same happens for me as waxcylinder described.

I totally sympathize with both of "you", and pleased to hear that you have resolved your issues.

Most of the dozens of forums I follow just disable the abusers.

Yes, we did that for a few years, but as the forum grew in popularity it became a prime target for spammers. We would rather spend our time helping people to use Audacity effectively than wasting time dealing with spam.

Forum Signatures are only available for for forum crew. Unfortunately we had to disable signatures for regular users due to abuse.
