Is this in the feature "wishlist" for upcoming releases ?
Because since I'm forced to use the ASIO version to have 24-bit support (you said that PortAudio only supports 16-bit), I am now limited by the number of playback channels.
Thanks.

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Hello again, I did some recording tests with the ASIO version, and it works when I set the number of channels in "Devices". Now my new problem is for the Playback. When I playback, Audacity seems to output only 2 channels, even when I playback all the input channels. With my MOTU interface, I have 1...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
OK thanks for the info. Yeah I'm having fun, your software is very flexible and I'm having great support to achieve a great solution for my day-to-day work...
I'll try using the number of channels in "Devices". I saw it once, but I forgot it was there.
I'll let you know.

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Well my interface has 8 analog channels an 2 digital channels as inputs ( http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/ultralite-mk3/i-o.html ). You probably mean that channel mapping doesn't work in the ASIO version, because using the "standard " Audacity I can select any of my inputs. This is the origin...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Hello again, I tried Audacity with ASIO and the software runs. The only problem I have is when I select the ASIO interface for the Recording/Playback. I can select the interface without any problem, but I can't select which input and output I want. My ASIO card has multiple I/O's, so I need to speci...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Thanks for these good explanations. I believe that my problem is caused by PortAudio's limitation to 16-bit. I understand that this limitation does not exist if Audacity is compiled with ASIO support. Is this version already available somewhere on the website ? If not, is there a procedure to follow...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
I just saw that Audacity recorded format is AU files. Is this a 24-bit raw samples format ?

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Thanks for your quick replies. I am very proud to have such great support, does not happen very often with other companies... As you rightly say, Audacity is designed to access audio samples, but for Audacity an AC3 bitstream will not look anything like audio data. While it is in the form of an AC3 ...

Re: Recording of a compressed Dolby Digital bitstream
Correct. Audacity becomes a GUI for recording. I don't want to write a software to interface with the sound card driver to access audio samples. Audacity is designed to do so. So if I understand correctly, Audacity will be able to record the audio "bit-transparent" IF the sound card driver is bit-tr...
