Re: Recording what's going through sound card
How do you have your Audacity preferences set? I'm away from my home computer at the moment, visiting family for the holidays, but I'll be back at my home computer on New Year's Day, and I'll check my own Audacity Preference settings then. I either have the "Input Device" (or "Recording Device") set...

Re: Recording what's going through sound card
If you don't want to spend money on either Audio HiJack or Wiretap Studio, you can download a couple of free bits of software that will allow you to do this: Soundflower and Soundsource.

Re: recording internet radio on MacMini
Koz,
The guy with the Mac Mini was able to get Audacity to record streaming audio using Soundflower. See his post just under my first (long) one above.

Re: recording internet radio on MacMini
"I changed the settings you stated but when I go to audacity I don't see the option to select SOUNDFLOWER 2ch." You should see this under Audacity preferences, where you're given the choice of selecting input device. There should be a dropdown where you see the choices of "built in digital line in"...

You can also try downloading and installing free system extension Soundflower, as well as free app Soundsource. See my description in this thread elsewhere on this forum:

Re: Feature differences between 1.2.5 and 1.2.6
waxcylinder, thanks. A question: if I download a later version of Audacity, must I first (or later) remove the older version I had been using? And, either way, must I reinstall the lamelib extension that allows for export of soundfiles as mp3s?

Re: Feature differences between 1.2.5 and 1.2.6
I agree...I haven't encountered any bugs so far in 1.2.5. It sounds as if 1.2.6 is merely an incremental upgrade...tweaks rather than an overhaul. I'll stick with 1.2.5 for now; when one of the later beta versions with significant changes is announced as stable I'll try it and skip over the interim ...

Feature differences between 1.2.5 and 1.2.6
I downloaded Audacity 1.2.5 just about three weeks ago...at the time, it was listed as the stable release for all users. Now I see 1.2.6 is listed as the stable release for all users. Can anyone describe the added or improved features in 1.2.6 over 1.2.5? I'm perfectly happy with 1.2.5 and I wonder ...

Re: recording internet radio on MacMini
You could try downloading Soundflower, a freeware app that allows you to route audio between applications that don't normally "speak" to each other. I also own and use Wiretap Studio, but I like some of the effects available in Audacity's editor that are unavailable in Wiretap Studio, (i.e., cut, co...
