Sorry I should have been more specific about my setup - it's a laptop (Acer TravelMate 6292). I didn't have any USB attachments at the time this happened except a USB mouse. My headphones were also plugged in. Let me know if you need any more info. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the quick reply... but I have not changed any of the settings in Sounds and Audio Devices - they all still point to Realtek HD Audio like they always did. Did I miss something there?

Hi, I just installed Audacity and am experiencing a similar problem... but the solutions mentioned here have not worked for me.
