Thanks for the reply. I record my husband playing guitar. I usually record them and export to an mp3 so I can share with others and listen in iTunes. I honestly think I have checked all the solutions I've seen others mention and none have helped.

Does Audacity work on Windows 7? My other laptop has Windows XP and Audacity has been wonderful. My new laptop has Windows 7 and the playback is very quiet - you almost can't hear it at all.
