I tried running it from the desktop because I've seen some applications have problems if they're too deep in the directory tree - but it seemed to make no difference. Like just now I tried with all the plugins installed, and got the same symptoms. I rebooted the Mac, ran that latest build of Audacit...

Nope, checked all the plugin directories in root and user paths - all empty.
I did have to force quit, but somehow I did get a log. Not every time, though.
Oh, and I disabled startup stuff like "Default Folder X" just in case. Made no difference.

I'm successfully running Audacity 1.3.9b on my G4 laptop, but when I install it on my dual G5 (OS X 10.4.11) it hangs every time. So far, Audacity has been excellent. Love the features and the UI. I need to use plug-ins frequently when editing my live recordings.
