Re: Missing stereo mix in Windows Pro 64bit
I just bought an Acer "ultrabook" and I'm having the same problem. It took me awhile to find the device manager in Windows 8, but it had an option to update drivers automatically. It said they were all up to date, but the Audacity Wiki said Windows might use generic drivers, so I took the Wiki's rec...

Re: Can Audacity play an .mp3 file from a url on a web page?
It depends on how the MP3 has been put into the web page. If it is played through a Flash player in the web page then there may be no way to download it. If it is just a link to the MP3 then you may be able to download it by right clicking on the link. It is recommended to uninstall 1.3.x before in...

Re: Can Audacity play an .mp3 file from a url on a web page?
If you want to open an MP3 from the Internet in Audacity you should download the MP3 first. I would also recommend upgrading to Audacity 2.0.2 which you can get here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Thank you. Is there a way to download the .mp3 if there is no link to do so? When I click on the l...

Can Audacity play an .mp3 file from a url on a web page?
Hi, I occasionally try to play an .mp3 file that's on a web site and think Audacity would play the file a lot better than the default app. If the file is very long, it's very difficult to replay portions without going too far back or not far enough. Sometimes you can download an .mp3 or other audio ...

Re: Recovering audio apparently 'lost' via full disk
I'm regretting not selecting the option to use it as the default file manager during the setup process. It is probably best to NOT set it as the default file manager. There are some situations where it is a lot more convenient to use the standard file manager, and I guess that is why that option is...

Re: Recovering audio apparently 'lost' via full disk
if this review is to be believed I think that is reviewing the full paid version of xplorer², however I've used the free version on Windows XP and although there are some advanced features missing it is still very good, in fact if I need to use a Windows computer it's one of the first programs that...

Re: Recovering audio apparently 'lost' via full disk
As far as I know Explorer cannot rename a list of files in alphanumeric order, hence the instructions to do so with xplorer2 on the Wiki Crash Recovery page. Assuming disk space is the problem (I think it is if this was a stereo 32-bit recording - your 2.4 GB gives you only two hours of recording) ...

Re: Recovering audio apparently 'lost' via full disk
Mucho thanks for the heads up on that zabkat file manager utility... At least it makes me feel a little better about my ineptitude in using Vista's Explorer. The experts think it sucks too... Not necessarily. As with all complex software products, it repays time spent learning about it. ... It's "b...

Re: Recovering audio apparently 'lost' via full disk
1. Would it take up that much disk space if it had been recorded as silence? Yes. Uncompressed audio holds the values of every audio sample. By default Audacity saves the audio data in 32-bit float format, so there are 4 bytes of data for every audio sample, so at a sample rate of 44.1 kHz that is ...

Re: Recovering audio apparently 'lost' via full disk
The .aup files don't contain audio data. The files that contain the data are all of the little .au files (probably thousands of them). This article will explain how an Audacity Project is constructed: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Projects Thanks. I don't believe I've read that articl...
