Mic adjustment inoperative when using USB input
via Behringer U202 from a stereo. I record some college basketball games from the radio on occasion & Audacity seems to work very well for that for me. I could be mistaken, but I thought I could control the recording volume with the slider by the mic. If not, this station has been within an acceptab...

Re: Recommendations: audio interface - radio/mixer to comput
"Clipping" is the show destroyer. Depending on what sort of mixing desk you have, you may have a "Control Room Out" with an independent level control that you could use as the output to go into the UCA 202. Thanks. I went ahead and ordered the UCA 202. Hopefully it will arrive in time for me to fig...

Re: Recommendations: audio interface - radio/mixer to comput
Thanks much, Steve. Everything on the Behringer sounds about perfect for me, other than possibly the lack of input or output level controls. That would probably only be an issue with respect to the mixer for the kids' school dance assembly. I don't think I could adjust the input controls without aff...

Recommendations: audio interface - radio/mixer to computer?
Hi, I like to record streaming audio for basketball & football games for my college team, and Audacity has worked great for that. But some games are not streamed, and others will cut off after 30 minutes or so unless you click a button saying you are still there. Sometimes I'm recording it because I...

Re: Lame mp3 download page - Virus warning from McAfee
Thanks. I figured it was something like that. I've heard of companies getting unfairly flagged by anti-spamware sites, along the lines of what Mr. kozikowski mentioned, and have had a tough time getting things straightened out. I figured the files themselves were fine, but thought I'd bring it up in...

Lame mp3 download page - Virus warning from McAfee
I followed the link from the Audacity FAQ: Installation & Plug-Ins page http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#lame to install Lame, but got a dire warning from McAfee that it contained a virus etc. (see attachment) I saw another thread or two on here about similar issues, ...

Re: Missing stereo mix in Windows Pro 64bit
Wow! I had opened the Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Manage Audio Devices window earlier but couldn't find anything that looked like it would help. I was getting ready to shut everything down and turn off the computer for the night and browsed around again for a bit. The Playback tab showed on...

Re: Missing stereo mix in Windows Pro 64bit
Thanks for the reply, Gale. Most users with a branded computer will want to go to the computer manufacturer's web site (so in your case to http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers or the US equivalent). For other computers, go to the web site of the motherboard manufacturer. Almost no manufact...

Re: Missing stereo mix in Windows Pro 64bit
How to Find Out Your Motherboard’s Manufacturer and Model http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/How-to-Find-Out-Your-Motherboards-Manufacturer-and-Model/236 I found the drivers for the devices on that motherboard, but I'm not too confident it will fix my problems recording in Windows 8. The device ...

Re: Missing stereo mix in Windows Pro 64bit
Audacity will record anything presented to it by the operating system. You can jack the Headphone Out of a personal radio or the Stereo Line-Out of a larger radio or music system to your computer Stereo Line-In (usually blue) or in the case of a Windows Laptop, you may need to add a Stereo Line-In ...
