It depends on what mixer you have and what controls there are on it for each channel.
If there are "Pan" controls, then you can pan the guitar completely to the left and the voice completely to the right, and they will end up separately on the left and right tracks.

Re: Help !
Assuming you are getting an output from the mixer, (are the columns of green and yellow LEDs lighting up when you sing / play?), there are a couple of things you need to do in the computer: 1. Power up the mixer and plug in the USB cable to the computer before starting Audacity. 2. Click Edit > Pref...

Re: Mixing Tracks Question
in both 1.3 and 1.2 in order to make the Mix&Render or the Quickmix to work properly you seem to need to have all the tracks selected True in 1.2, but in 1.3 if there is nothing selected, the program selects everything bu default. if you select only a single track and then apply the Mix&Render or t...

Re: Export Multiple Track Transition Anomaly
This is a known bug in 1.3.10, where each track is extended by up to 5 seconds on Export Multiple.
It is fixed in 1.3.11, and Export Multiple will work properly.

Re: Mixing Tracks Question
You're almost there. Firstly, are you using Audacity 1.2 or 1.3? You mention Mix and Render, but you have posted in the 1.2 section of the forum and in 1.2 this feature is called Quick Mix. If you click File > Export as WAV... in 1.2, Audacity will mix all the tracks in your project and export the m...

Re: Mac Audacity Skinable?
A little searching has revealed that you can change the look of the current version of Audacity, as follows: (The path names given are based on Windows XP. Other versions of Windows and other OS's will differ) In the audacity.cfg file (in C:Documents and Settings<user_name>Application DataAudacity) ...

Re: Mac Audacity Skinable?
I think 1.3.8 was the last version to have Themes enabled. There is a previous thread on this:

Re: Permanent track identification (numbers or letters)
You can rename each track.
Open the dropdown box at the top of the track panel (where it says "Audio Track" or "Stereo Track") > Name... and give it any name you want.

Re: Recording voice with USB
Yes, Audacity will read the soundcard, provided your computer's sound system recognises it. You will need to do the following: Plug in the sound card before you start Audacity. Go to Audacity Preferences (in Version 1.2, Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O. In version 1.3 Edit > Preferences > Devices) an...

Re: Microphone Sound Quality
There should be nothing in the new version of Audacity which would cause that kind of difference in quality. I would suggest looking in your sound card settings in Windows Control Panel > Sounds and Audio. There may be effects, such as "surround sound" or similar, that are activated in Vista but wer...
