In the "Filename Format" box, you type a code which tells CDex what to call each file as it rips it. (Click on the Help button for details)
In the "Recorded Tracks" dropdown, you tell CDex where you want the ripped tracks saved.

Re: Poor quality recording
The Mic jack is designed to take a tiny mono signal from a microphone, and you are feeding it a signal 1000 times bigger from the amp. If you have a desktop machine, there should be a line-in jack which will take the signal from the amp. However, if you are on a laptop which doesn't have a line-in j...

In CDex, click on Options > Settings > Filenames.
This gives you a window where you can select the format of the filenames, and where you want them saved.

Re: Poor quality recording
What are you trying to record from? Microphone? Turntable? Sounds playing on your computer?
What equipment are you using and how is it connected? More detail is always better.

Re: piano sounds great going in, lousy in Audacity
I'm recording the piano straight into the Alesis USB 4-channel mixer (right and left channels going into two channels on the Alesis). Try using only the "L/Mono" output into one channel on the Alesis, and see does that make a difference. You should also record at a lower level, to avoid the distort...

Re: Unable to download FFmpeg installer
I've checked just now, and the link does work.
One possibility is that the security settings on your computer are preventing you from connecting to the page.
Have you tried the "Alternative Zip download"?

Re: About using guitar distortions and vocoders etc
Short answer: no, you can't apply effects while recording.
Audacity is designed principally as an audio editor, and effects, like any other editing tools, can only be applied to the audio after it has been recorded.

Re: Recording from multiple UCA202's
The basic issue is that Audacity will only recognise one device to record from. The only way to record 4 channels is to have a sound card with 4 inputs that is seen as a single device. Multiple-channel cards which present the channels as multiple devices will not work. For example, if you have an 8-...

Re: Is the a way to jump to a lag?
In 1.2.x, I don't think so. Labels (flags) in version 1.3.x are much better supported than in 1.2.x, and you can move from label to label using the tab key. See this page from the 1.3 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Label_Tracks The current release, 1.3.11, is available here: ...

A very good (and subtle) reverb plugin is "DX Reverb Light" from AnwidaSoft
