Re: Recording

The 13.5 hour limit only applies to Audacity version 1.2.x.
If you upgrade to 1.3.11, the current release, the theoretical recording limit goes up (to 58 billion hours!), but the actual limit is set by your hardware.

Re: Converting .aup file to MP3 format

Then, when you have downloaded and installed the Lame encoder, and told Audacity where to find it, (here's how),
http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=inst ... m=lame-mp3
you have to then open your .aup file in Audacity, and use File > Export , which will export the project as an mp3.

Re: RECORDING LEVELS ON STEREO IS NOT RIGHT

"If all else fails, read the manual" ...so I read the manual. (M Audio Fast Track USB) It says: "Mono Switch - When pressed in, this switch sums the input signals to mono for direct monitoring." i.e. when pressed in, you will get whatever input (or inputs) you are using coming out equally on both ch...

Re: RECORDING LEVELS ON STEREO IS NOT RIGHT

@Whomper, The M-Audio has a Mono/Stereo switch, and if this is set to Stereo, the mic input should be duplicated on both output channels. @Rockguitarist88, Have you tried using the RCA outputs on the M-Audio, and connecting into the Line-In on the PC, instead of the USB connection? That should tell ...

Re: RECORDING LEVELS ON STEREO IS NOT RIGHT

This post, http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=27635&p=78822&hilit=+vista#p78822 from another thread, may throw some light on the situation. It appears that Vista sets the input from USB devices to mono by default, and you may have to go into the Control Panel to change it to stereo. ...

Re: How do I record sound from YouTube?

I am frequenting another forum (Waypoint, a Garmin GPS dealer in The Netherlands) that sends you an e-mail whenever a new contribution appears for your topic. Wouldn't that be a useful suggestion for this Audacity forum? It's already there. When you are posting, in the panel below the text window, ...

Re: Input Volume Frozen

That depends on what the problem is. Is your recording too soft? too loud? distorted? are you recording anything at all? What are you recording from? If you are recording from a USB device, then the computer hands over control of the sound system to the USB device, and the only way you can control t...

Re: Newbie with Noise Removal problems with 78s

That hollow, tinny sound can be a result of using too much noise reduction. It means you are getting rid of some of the music along with the noise. Noise reduction is always a compromise, because on the one hand you can have all the music and a lot of noise, and on the other hand, no noise and only ...
