Re: splitting tracks on export
1.2.4 is positively ancient at this stage, and is no longer supported. The version currently recommended by all the experts in the forum is 1.3.11, which you can get from here. http://audacityteam.org/download/ It is still described as Beta, but it is more stable on many computer platforms than the ...

Re: Poor Quality Recordings
We will need a little bit more to go on;
What type of turntable and computer are you using, and how are they connected? Model numbers will help.

Re: .cwp & sonar
If you have installed ffmpeg correctly, then when you click Edit > Preferences > Libraries, you will see the ffmpeg library version number in the preferences window. Having said that, I'm not sure whether .cwp is supported. It doesn't appear in the list of supported formats, which you can get by cli...

Re: First time user - LP recording
It sounds as though you might be recording from the laptop microphone instead of the turntable.
You need to have the turntable powered up and plugged in to the computer before starting Audacity.
Then in Edit > Preferences > Devices, you should have the recording device set to USB Audio Codec.

Re: Preamp for ION TTUSB
As Koz says, if it is a USB turntable, i.e. the lead from the turntable plugs into a USB port on the computer, then, no, you don't need a preamp. You just plug the TT into the computer, set up Audacity and start recording. Records are made with the treble increased and the bass reduced, so that the ...

But for us to help you, we would need a little more information: what type of turntable do you have, and how is it connected to the laptop?
Model numbers are good. More detail is better.

Re: New Vinyl Getting Skips
Why would you want to go for a USB turntable? You already have a Marantz 6150, an Artcessories DJ pre-amp and a UCA202 sound card. That combination should be better than most, if not all, the USB turntables available out there. The sound is excellent like you said. But its not coming across in the r...

Re: Cannot import files on windows 7 computer
If you are using Windows Media Player to rip your CDs, there are two options which will let you import the files into Audacity without converting to mp3, which causes compression damage: 1. WMP 11 will allow you to rip to a WAV file, which you can import directly into Audacity. 2. WMP 10 will not su...

Re: stereo tracks out of sync
Audacity was not designed to be used over a network. Its operation depends on having immediate disk access, and the delays which a network will introduce can cause all kinds of problems.
