Re: Icon shows up, but no screen
On a Windows machine, audacity.cfg usually lives in C:Documents and Settings<username>Application DataAudacity (this is the path in XP but may be different in Vista or Windows 7) This file and folder is hidden by default and, to see it, you have to change the settings in Windows Explorer to "show hi...

Re: Only left channel can be heard
You're experiencing the same symptoms with both Audacity and Winamp, so I would guess that you have a loose connection to the right-hand speaker / headphone. Does the WAV file play properly in an iPod / MP3 player? (If you were listening on headphones when you had the problem, don't use the same hea...

Re: Need the language to search for the answer!
What you're looking for is Compression. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression Audacity has a Compressor built-in (Effect > Compressor), but many of the experts here also recommend Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ which you can download as a plug-in ...

Re: Sounds freaky! What do I do?
The WS-300M records in WMA format, which Audacity 1.2 does not support. In order to be able to import it, you will need to download and install Audacity 1.3 (the current version is 1.3.12) from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows Despite the disclaimer, 1.3 is more stable than 1.2 on...

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
Thanks for the tips, Steve. Setting the format to "%#1.nf" does the job. %g is not so good with columns, as it gives the shortest output, which could be anything from 1 to 6 decimal places. I had read the page in your link, but it didn't give the syntax for setting the number of decimal places, so I...

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
Here is the updated version of the EQ curve generator. It includes some new features, in addition to fixing the problems in the earlier version. Path should start with C:/ I've set the default to C:/, as suggested, though it seems like a "least worst" solution. I think it would be far more useful if...

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
Just in case anyone was waiting for the updates to the plug-in (!), the reason nothing has happened is that, first my IP address was blocked by Spamhaus, and then I went on holidays - this is coming from an internet cafe in northern Italy.
I'll be back in late August.

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
I just wrote a long reply to Gale's comments and hit the 'Preview' button, only to find that I had been logged out (by the forum software?) and my post had evaporated into thin air.
It's too late to start again now; I'll try again tomorrow.
