I'm having the same exact problem I was having with the Delta 66. Audacity will not record at more than half volume at maximum.
XP sp3, pentium4 3.2ghz, Geforce 9800GT, 2gb ram, PreSonus FP10
Is there some sort of setting I'm not seeing somewhere in Audacity?

Re: Recording maxes at half volume. Why?
Well, bad news: After installing the beta driver for my Delta 66, suggested to me by an M-Audio technician, it could be a coincidence or not, but since then, even after installing older drivers, the card is not functioning correctly--it now ALWAYS records crackle sounds in the audio. I've had to pur...

Re: Recording maxes at half volume. Why?
I'm still trying to figure out why Renoise can record in DirectSound mode with my Delta 66 at full volume while Audacity can't.
I guess that for now I'll convert my vinyl to digital by recording in Renoise, then exporting the sample and importing it into Audacity to edit the sample.

Re: Recording maxes at half volume. Why?
The Delta 66 drivers disable the windows recording mixer. I posted that information in the following thread. http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=12270 but here are screenshots http://kizzume.com/stuff/win-mix-1.jpg http://kizzume.com/stuff/win-mix-2.jpg I've googled for solutions, this has do...

Re: Recording maxes at half volume. Why?
M-Audio is claiming that it should record fine using MME or Direct Sound--the technical support guy from M-Audio named "Ja" claims that it isn't a problem on his machine.

Re: Recording maxes at half volume. Why?
Here is a link to the M-Audio forum where I'm getting told that it's a problem with Audacity and that my problem can not be reproduced on their end.

Re: Recording maxes at half volume. Why?
Yep, same problem exists on the old drivers as well. It's one of the many reasons why I tried the new drivers.

I wish it was that simple. I just got new drivers for it a week ago.

Re: Recording maxes at half volume. Why?
It's weird--it doesn't do it in Cubase or ProTools, or SAM Broadcaster, but it DOES do it in sndrec32 and Audacity--it plainly records at half-volume. It records everything at half volume--when I record of my vinyl, going through a tube preamp, which has *slightly* quiet output, I have to amplify us...
