Re: libsndfile compilation errors
I have not modified any source and am using the full source tar ball Hi Mark! "source tar ball"? Use SVN to grab HEAD; for excruciatingly complete details on compiling wxWidgets (a prerequisite) and Audacity see: http://www.hometownband.org/Audacity/CompilingAudacity.html BTW, 1.3.14 is a...

Re: add build date to log
Ed's change does not add the svn revision number anywhere. True, it just extends the ability to tell the build date to beta (and "stable" though of little interest there). Deducing a nightly's commit revision number from it's build date is not too hard I would suppose. In re. searching th...

Re: add build date to log
That was my thought as well--the devs are not going to edit in something each commit. With adding the build date automatically they get very close and it shows in the Log.

Re: Bulk conversion from “.aup” projects to the FLAC format
I do this a lot but needed to create a custom build of Audacity. Look at this thread:

for details. If this sounds like something you want to explore let me know and I will help you.

Re: add build date to log
It is super easy to have Subversion doing it for you. I do not see how the user in the field can then tell the dev what the commit revision number is. I think your example adds a revision number to a source file; they want a revision number on the executable and a way the user can report it in a bu...

Re: add build date to log
Can you say why? The devs would really like to be able to ID the commit revision number for some bug reports. Search Bugzilla for "commit"--I asked if there was a way and got "No, but it sure would be nice". Having the build date on the betas (the "stable" is well know...

add build date to log
post 2.0.0 in audacity.h ~ line 41, make beta & "stable" lines end with __TDATE__ like "alpha" does (which adds the BUILD date--and thus some commit version info); also change the trailing - (dash) to a space--it looks better IMVHO: old: #if IS_ALPHA #define AUDACITY_SUFFIX w...

Re: Monitoring keyboard input
Amazed at how complicated the simple overdubbing facility of multitack tape recording of yore becomes with DAWs. Tell me about it! My recording studio has a multi-track reel-to-reel feeding my mixer & FX rack which outputs to my digital recorder. Overdubbing is a simple question of stepping on ...

Maybe this is the perfect place to announce the new Overdub Tutorial? http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Recording_Multi-track_Overdubs It has a great section on Latency in the http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Overdubbing_using_your_computer%27s_on-board_sound_card section (a...
