Re: fake stereo?
In the drop down that shows the items you specify,Mono, also left and right are "gray", and won't respond to mouse.

fake stereo?
I have a mono source, an old 78 rpm record player. I want to record, using Audacity, "fake" stereo. I want the result to play sound through both left and right speakers. I realize this isn't real stereo, but it is adequate for me. There is apparently a way to take a pre recorded mono recording, and ...

separate tracks ?
This must be a common question, but I am unable to figure it out. If I record one side of a 33 1/3 record with Audacity 1.3, this makes a long ten minute track. When I transfer the Audacity recording onto a CD with a another program, I can not skip and advance tracks with the advance button on the C...

Re: Need to reverse Left-Right tracks
I read with interest the following solution on how to swap tracks. Simpler to do: Split Stereo Track Drag lower track above the upper track Make Stereo Track (from the upper track) or alternatively, using the Channel Mixer effect: Channel Mixer > (preset) Swap Left/Right. Either of the above solutio...

Re: mono stereo
I am embarrassed. The adapter I was using to convert the RCA jacks to the mini phono on my computer was a MONO jack output, and I didnt catch it. I have since found a stereo version, and all works well.
I have no excuse, other than I am 69, if thats an excuse.
Thanks you for your patience.

Re: mono stereo
I cannot recall the trail of changes I made. But I have reversed the L and R inputs from the turntable, and nothing changes, that is, only the top or left, channel records. The bottom remains just a straight line when I record, even tho L and R inputs were reversed

mono stereo
I have been recording my old records for the last month, in stereo, with no problems. I tried to use the USB port instead of the line in, just as an experiment, and achieved only barely passable results, and when I change back to the normal LINE IN, I only have one channel recording. I went to "pref...

record as WAV ?
Hi I have the newest version of Audacity installed (1.3.9 unicode,) and when I try to record something and store it as a WAV, the file-export sequence leads me to a window called something like "edit metadata." I searched this site for help, also looked into the "help" section of Audacity, but cant f...
