Re: Running Audacity on an ultraportable
Thanks. Hopefully I've done most of the recording already, so yes I will only be editing on the train. My project is eventually going to be an audio play with several characters and background noise etc, so I tend to have lots of tracks on the go. The whole thing is currently over 3Gb currently. Sou...

Running Audacity on an ultraportable
I'm not getting enough time to finish my audio project at home but I spend 2 hours a day on the train so I'm contemplating buying a laptop, the smaller the better. Is anybody running Audacity on an ultraportable and if so how well is it working? Basically I'm trying to work out what the smallest (pr...

Re: Apply volumne envelope from one track to another
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I managed to get what I wanted in the end by writing a nyquist script (after intensive Googling) and doing the following: (mult (snd-avg (aref s 0) 4100 4100 OP-PEAK) (aref s 1) ) Where s 0 is the voice track and s1 is the breathing track (I think it's that way around, I di...

Re: Help identifying cable/jack
Yup, that's fixed it: right cable, wrong socket. Thank a lot. A ha, I think I might have one of those round the back of the machine, I'll check tonight. Thanks. That's still the wrong connector. You need to find the Line-In, frequently blue. That's the connection that handles high-level stereo music...

Re: Help identifying cable/jack
I am connecting to a large pc in this case, and is does have a microphone symbol next to it. I can buy hardware if necessary but I think I should be able to do this with my existing inputs and outputs. Thanks for the link though. All that is perfectly correct assuming you have a large deskside PC, o...

Re: Help identifying cable/jack
Thanks, but the 1/4" jack in your picture looks identical to the 1/4 jack at the end of the cable I bought (the uppermost two in my photo). If that should work then I'm wondering if the problem lies with where I'm plugging it into my pc. It's the mic socket - the one with the picture of the micropho...

Help identifying cable/jack
I'm sure this is easy, but it's been driving me mad and for once Google doesn't seem to help. I would like to connect my stage piano (Yamaha CP33) to my p.c. The piano has a left/right line out, which I usually connect to my powered speakers. The line out takes what I think is a TRS jack, so I think...

Apply volumne envelope from one track to another
Hi. First time on this forum so apologies if this is the wrong place (but I am running unstable Audacity on Windows). I want to use the volume envelope from one track to another (I think). What I actually need to do is be able to hear one track when someone is speaking but not hear it if they are si...
