Re: Splitting and Time Shift
Right; well, on my build (1.3.9 alpha) it doesn't work. As long as I unlink, it will slide whether or not i select anything. And if I link, I can slide only if I select, but the label on the left and right of the split moves together. So, here's my question: The edit I'm doing has taken a lot of ti...

Re: recording with sony pcm d50, then direct to cd
So in the following workflow: 1. Preferences, Quality Tab, Default Sample Format = 16 bit. 2. Preferences, File Formats, Uncompressed Export Format is either "WAV Microsoft 16 bit PCM" or "RAW signed 16 bit" 2. Record a track from an ADC that outputs 16 bit. 3. Don't save the recording, but instead...

Re: Wave form missing
I just get a little line below the center line on both channels. That is not good. The little line should be exactly on the center line. What you're seeing is called "DC offset" and generally indicates a fault with your sound card. However, let's assume your sound card is not broken, and see if we ...

Re: Why does an existing project have dropped sections?
I wonder if I put all versions and files into the same and original folder, then close the project and reopen it, will it be able to find the missing sections? That probably won't help. Audacity records the locations of "external" files as full path references. Locations of Audacity's "internal" fi...

Re: Correcting for delay
In Windows, there is no option for "hardware playthrough". Hardware playthrough is automatic if supported by the hardware - software playthrough is an available option when using hardware that does not support hardware playthrough (such as when using a USB turntable). 'Tis as I thought. Strange tha...

Re: Correcting for delay
Good question. Perhaps a windows user could tell us if the "hardware playthrough" option is even visible in the prefs dialog in windows?kozikowski wrote:Any idea why it's possible to select both hardware and software playthrough?

Re: Correcting for delay
I'm a new user of Audacity and am trying to record direct guitar on multitracks but don't know how to get around the delay between recording and feedback. Are there any plug-ins or anything to correct for this delay, to record and playback in real time? Are you talking about the delay between the t...

Re: Change tempo dirty results
So maybe, it is not the vibrato bass speeding up that is the cause of my problem... I made these tests on the 100.wav file. Nope, it's not the vibrato bass. It's a limitation of Change Tempo. I tried this on a 50 Hz pure sine wave, change tempo +15%. window-Frequency Analysis-000.png Note all the n...

Re: Just a Report
On 1.3.9 alpha, I can't type the letter k on the Label Track ("k" has another meaning ). Just reporting--no big problem for me. This is a known issue, but thanks anyway for reporting it - this lets us know that people are still encountering it. As a workaround, go to Preferences, Keyboard tab, and ...

Re: Bulk Normalize
Chains lets you apply some action to multiple sound files. Unfortunately, where in Photoshop, you get to design your own Batch, in Audacity, you only get the tools that the programmers made Chains Friendly. There aren't many. I've never used Chains and I can't find any information on it. Yes, that ...
