If you're using Audacity 1.2.x, the command is "Project > Import Audio".
If you're using Audacity 1.3.x, the command is "File > Import > Audio".

Re: Recovery After a file rename
After renaming an AUP file, I cannot get the audio to play. As soon as I tried opening the file, there is a waning about 872 missing project data blockfiles, but there seems to be data in an Audacity data folder. My problem is that I can't reproduce this doing exactly as you say you did. I have a s...

Re: Recovery After a file rename
I must be missing something here...I tried renaming the file back to the original as billw suggested using TextEdit, but still get the missing data blocks warning message which I promptly exit out of. (One of the choices is worded something like "Close project immediately and make no changes." ThIs...

Re: Equalization
A google search for "graphic equalizer how to" doesn't turn up much. This wikipedia page is not bad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equalization And this page look pretty thorough, although I have to say I haven't read it closely: http://www.ethanwiner.com/equalizers.html Equalization can be used for ...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing
I did the uninstall/reinstall thing (no 1.2.6 any more) but I also cleaned out the config file. Boy, that is a huge file that builds up fast. That must have been where the problem was. I can hardly imagine how it has followed me through the years, I thought I always rebuilt things like config files...

Re: Recovery After a file rename
I am a newbie to MacOS X but a 20 year Windows veteran. I am running Leopard 10.5.8 and Audacity 1.3.9 on a MacBook Pro. After renaming an AUP file, I cannot get the audio to play. As soon as I tried opening the file, there is a waning about 872 missing project data blockfiles, but there seems to b...

Re: When recording multiple tracks, Audacity re-records all!
The problem seems to be that this mixer uses the same signal path to the headphones as to the main mix. You are obviously feeding the computer output into the mixer, but in order to hear it through the headphones, it will also be in the main mix. I presume that you are then feeding to mix back into...

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing
I will completely uninstall both Audacities Uninstalling and reinstalling the programs won't result in a "clean" install. You need to trash or edit audacity.cfg. In your case, since you've had (or still have) 1.2.6 on your machine, even if you trash audacity.cfg (the 1.3.x config file), Audacity 1....

Re: Trouble Opening WAV file for Editing
OK, here's a shot in dark. Reset Audacity preferences. You had 1.2.6 then moved up to 1.3.x and the problem followed you. Getting rid of the 1.2.6 config file can be tricky on Windows, but editing the 1.3.x audacity.cfg file so that Audacity thinks it's starting over is not hard. If you do this Auda...

The spammers are baaack!
I've noticed a lot of spam activity on the forum in the past couple of weeks. They go through the captcha and respond to the registration email then make 20 posts in 30 minutes. I'm wondering if there is a forum setting where new users can be limited to one post per hour for the first 24 hours of th...
