Re: Live Recording 5,000 hours
I wouldn't use Audacity for the recording :o I'd use Audio Hijack Pro on Mac. It will automatically split recordings at any length you specify. It will encode real-time to MP3 if that's what you want. It will do timed recordings. It will happily run in the background. The right tool for the job. The...

And there's this tutorial, which takes a slightly different approach:

Re: Exporting Problems
What I will not be doing is trying to recapture the vinyl (which gets slightly fuzzier at each playing) or posting here wanting to know how to patch together 5,348 .au files into "Blue Suede Shoes." Agree totally. I just wanted to make it clear to anyone reading this thread that importing a WAV wit...

Re: Optomizing Recordings from Vinyl - Please Help!
I hate to suggest a non-Audacity solution, but I'm a big fan of ClickRepair http://www.clickrepair.net/ As for Audacity's Noise Removal tool, you need to be gentle and experiment. Find a representative sample of the surface noise / hiss you want to remove and click "Get Noise Profile" in the Noise R...

Re: Exporting Problems
I personally would capture one whole side of a record and export the whole thing as one WAV file. Then go back and capture the second side. Export As WAV. Then you can edit the WAV files totally without having to deal with _data folders or brittle and confusing Audacity Projects. Not quite. As soon...

Re: Making 1 cd length track from 2 sides cassette
Music CDs do not carry song titles. Actually, if you burn a CD with the "CD-TEXT" option in Toast, the CD will carry the song titles, and they will be displayed by capable CD players (such as the one in my car). Toast uses the song titles you enter into it's burn list to make the CD text, so it is ...

Re: Making 1 cd length track from 2 sides cassette
OK, you've saved the Audacity project but not exported anything, right? Have a look at this: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_minidiscs_to_CD Scroll to the bottom to see the mini-tutorial on splitting songs and exporting. You want to make sure that ther...

Re: Audacity mangles filenames on export (BUG?)
We figured "aha, maybe they know something we don't". There's little to no information on this anywhere on the net. (Perhaps someone out there can formulate a better Google search.) Our current theory is that there's something in Carbon that freaks out on certain long filenames (but not all), but w...

Re: Exporting Problems
I then have replayed the aup file on my Mac and have inserted breaks during breaks in the arias by pausing the track and inserting a break using command B. Breaks are inserted as far as I can tell. I then have tried to export to my desktop as .aiff files and they appear there as iTunes icons. I mus...
