Re: problems importing audio files

What kind of audio files are you trying to import? Audacity cannot import WMA files, for example.

Re: Audio dropouts after exporting w/markers

Yes I realized that I had to re enter the whole long file again, but the same thing happens even if I do a minimum amount of editing, ie only set markers and export. I loaded Audacity on my computer at work and have been able to successfully do the editing and multiple exports w/o any problem. Is t...

Re: Bulk Normalize

when I click to download the Audacity plugin, there's a screen of words instead of a download link. Certainly that's the program, yet I have no clue how to make a screen full of words become a plugin. Help for idiots like me would be greatly appreciated. Right-click on the link then download it to ...

Re: Problems with cutting and splitting

Version 1.2 does not support multiple clips per track. So the behaviour you observe: but when you paste, the clip you've highlighted doesn't reappear where you've clicked, it simply joins on seamlessly to whatever audio is already there is correct and there's no way around it in 1.2. If you paste th...

Re: humming sound

That is very strange. That headset/mic combination says it has a noise-cancelling microphone. It sounds like you've got the mic lying on a table next to your computer and it's picking up the fan noise/rumble. How are you using it? When you talk into it, what is the relative volume of your voice vers...

Re: Audio dropouts after exporting w/markers

What is odd as well is that the original long file plays the same way even though the display shows audio wave forms. Here's what I think has happened: 1) You imported a sound file with the "Read directly from the original (faster)" option (in Preferences | File Formats) checked. 2) You did a lot o...

Re: Audacity 1.x Beta not installing properly

We need more details.
Which 1.3 version? 1.3.9? 1.3.8?

What computer? Make, processor, speed, RAM, hard disk space.

Which OS? XP, Vista, Mac OSX?

What was installation procedure?

Yes. You can see this when you switch views - the vertical scale on the left changes from linear to log.

Re: Live Recording 5,000 hours

One item. The web site claims the ability to record both sides of a VOIP call. Actually a number of software packages can do that, but can it record me on left and them on right? That's Pamela's trick allowing extensive production and filtering at no great effort. Koz According to the manual (I hav...

Re: Live Recording 5,000 hours

Unfortunately Audacity has a history of not working with Jack - Audacity can work with Jack, but it is often difficult to persuade them to play together. (Full Jack support is one of the most important feature requests for Linux musicians). There's a Jack OSX version as well. I tried it an abandone...
