Re: typical file size in mp3

That would be about 430 MB on a CD (i.e. similar to a WAV file). So you've gotten about 10-to-1 compression. Pretty typical for mp3. You could set the bit rate lower to get a smaller file but the audio quality would suffer.

Re: Joining two clips seamlessly

Zoom way in to the where the two clips join, until you can see the dots that represent the individual samples. The two waveforms probably don't join up nicely. Now look for the points where the waves cross the zero line. You might have to zoom out once or twice. Edit out just a few samples so clip 1...

Re: Recording 33 1/3 LPs at 78 RPM

my cheap-o TT (a Memorex 2650MMO) with it's USB output, EQing was probably not included. Every USB turntable includes RIAA playback EQ. This playback EQ is actually done in the phono pre-amp stage. A USB turntable must include a phono pre-amp to a) apply the proper playback EQ, and b) boost the tin...

Re: Recording 33 1/3 LPs at 78 RPM

Could you elaborate on the loss of fidelity when recording this way (high speed). Is it caused by the high speed recording or by the later software speed reduction? Consider the case where you have a superbly-recorded 33 1/3 rpm vinyl LP that contains audio with frequencies ranging from 20 Hz to 20...

Tell her to move the slider and watch what happens to the green curve and not worry about the numbers. :)

That is beyond my ken. Best to ask the people who wrote the code and understand FFT's and digital FIR's.

Re: music intro to pod cast

Bill: we have 1.2.6 Paul OK, so that link won't do you much good. I have a music intro and have a voice content. We want to have a music intro that fades, which we've mastered. I'm missing something. How do I simply put a music intro before the voice interview content? Also, music at the end that f...

Note that this applies to 1.3.x. What version of Audacity are you using? It will make a difference as to what features are available.
