Go to Preferences > Libraries. Check that you have installed the FFmpeg libraries. As I recall FFmpeg is needed to import WMA files.

Re: Cut/Ctrl-X cuts too much
Given that I am not able to reproduce what I thought I was seeing without the label track, do you still want the screenshot? Or is this issue related to the label track and a known problem? OK, if you are sure that you do not see the problem when you do not have a label track then this is definitel...

Re: "Cut" feature cutting too much :(
Bill: In the detailed case I reported in my second message, I don't think I had any labels set yet. (But, it is possible that I missed noting that detail. I do sometimes set a label to mark the start of the second side, before I start editing. It is possible that I did so yesterday, even though I d...

Re: Cut/Ctrl-X cuts too much
Further testing indicates that it appears to cut out twice as much as what is selected. For example, selecting from 2:31.0 to 2:32.0 (1 sec) cuts out two seconds -- from 2:31.0 to 2:33.0. Likewise, selecting from 2:29.0 to 2:31.0 (2 sec), cuts out from 2:29.0 to 2:33.0. This is exactly the behaviou...

Re: Exporting .wav or .aiff to CD
What method are you using to burn the CDs? If you are using the Finder (dragging files onto the CD then clicking the Burn button) you are creating a data CD. Drag and drop the AIF files into iTunes, create a playlist, then burn an audio CD from within iTunes.

Re: Entering "k" in labels scrolls WAV panel
Which version of Audacity are you using? This is a known bug (the "k" key is the shortcut for move cursor to end of track), but AFAIK it has not been seen in 1.3.9.

Re: Cut/Ctrl-X cuts too much
Do have a label track and is "Link Audio and Label Tracks" checked in the "Tracks" menu? If so, you have encountered a known bug. Either get rid of the label track or uncheck "Link Audio and Label Tracks".

Re: Volume mistake
Audacity can help with a lot of things but one thing it can't do is control the volume between your microphone and the track. It also can not rescue sound that has been clipped. You need to learn to "work the microphone" - pull the microphone away from you when you sing loud, and pull it closer when...
