Thanks for responding. What really irks me is that it was working yesterday! I can't even download the 1.3 version -- I get an error msg. And the LAME site gives me a 403. And I am not getting any help re how to fix any of this fro the forum. So I guess I need to pay for something..... What do you t...

I can't get Audacity to work with LAME, nor any advice on how to do so. Does anyone have any recommendations for a paid audio voice recording program than can create MP3s. Thanks.

Part 2 -- I suspect my problem is a version issue, as all was well until I accidentally deleted by lame_enc.dll file. I tried to go to the official site, but I get a 403 Forbidden msg (what's that all about???), so I tried a version I found elsewhere. That doesn't help. I also have re-installed 1.2....

I made a few edits to a file and probably fiddled with something I shouldn't have as I tried to tone down the volume of an edit I inserted in the (spoken word) file. When I export to MP3, it is speeded up so I sound like a chipmunk. The file is also much smaller. What did I foul up? TIA.
