We can see that file has a high frequency cut-off at around 18500 Hz. If that file was recorded with Lame, using one of the presets, then it corresponds with "preset standard" (about 190 kbps). Note that other MP3 encoders may filter at different frequencies. Note that Lame's presets may be overrid...

if plot spectrum were to report an mp3 between 18,000 and 19,000 I'm not sure what you mean. Perhaps you could post a screenshot to illustrate. This is a plot spectrum analysis of an mp3 file, I'm wanting to know what the true mp3 bitrate is going by this audacity analysis? Let me know please what ...

Is there a list that shows which bitrate against an approximate Hz report using Plot Spectrum?
For instance if plot spectrum were to report an mp3 between 18,000 and 19,000 what would an approximate mp3 bitrate be?

Audacity 2.4.1 on Windows 7
If I play music such as mp3 on for example foobar2000 and then open Audacity and hit the red dot for record, the music does not record or show in the window, all I get is a straight line, if I speak however this seems to record, what am I doing wrong?
