Re: Tinny audio w/switch to newer laptop/newer Audacity

Finally getting back to this issue. I'm attaching a sample from the Dell laptop where I still can't figure out what the issue is. Now, my ears aren't the best, but I amplified the Dell track by a factor of 7 and the two recordings seem to be the same to me. So, why the level difference? I don't kno...

Re: Change Tempo Bug

If I select the shorter note and 'Change Tempo' by a -0.15 for instance, the note should get longer by a certain length, but it does not! It gets shorter and then inserts a length of silence and some garbage (especially after some Ctl-R's) equivalent to the proper (I think) length. OK, I can see a ...

Re: How to record from cassette recorder?

The cord is pictured below. The cassette is a Sony with an “earphone” output. That’s what I plugged into. I used to digitize old cassette recordings using an old version of Audacity on my old PC. The Audacity version had a “line in” option for recording but 2.3.2 does not. I think you are going to ...

Re: PAUSE MARKS

Is there a way to have a selection pause when it reaches its end? And then have it start up again by pressing ENTER? I then want it to pause again after the second selection. THANKS In a word, no. There may be a way to do this with mod-script-pipe (see https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/scripting....

Re: Record mode not working

Followed your instructions Jademan but didn't change anything. OK. Two more things to try (separately): (1) Check that Audacity has permission to use your device. (In "Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy") (2) Try changing your project rate from 41400 to 48000. Sound ...

Re: Microhpone advice needed: Blue/Yeti vs Rode NT-USB

If money was unimportant, and I needed a new headset mic, I'd go for a DPA mic. I've used them on musical stage productions, and they're the best headset mics I've ever used (but rather expensive). Yes, rather. ;) Can you make out the name? Not even when I squint my eyes. ;) Thanks for looking. :D

Re: Audacity 2.4.2 will not record through USB to macOS 11.1

My USB turntable has a "project rate" of 48,000 Hz but that setting does not seem to be available in Audacity when I set the source to that USB input. Is it possible that is the issue? Again, no trouble getting a recording to happen with either old Mac desktop or windows laptop. Not a Mac...
