Re: Audacity won’t record when adding new tracks.

However, when I add a track and attempt to record audacity SAYS it’s recording, but it isn’t. So in the lower left-hand corner of the screen you will see your Project Rate: 44100. Right-click on your speaker icon then Sounds>Recording>[Rode AI-1 USB]>Properties>Advanced>Default Format. Change this ...

Re: Tinny audio w/switch to newer laptop/newer Audacity

Actually scratch that last message- issues seem to be two things: de-press the Hi-Z line on the mixer, and then in App volume and preferences, lower the audio setting for whatever browser i'm using for incoming call (or zoom)... thanks! the stop button does work but the space bar does not.
You can use Edit>Preferences to check your Keyboard bindings. The Space Bar should be bound to "Playing - Play/Stop".

Re: The notes do not ring and the sound gets muffled when recording

Three thoughts:

1) Can you mute your computer speakers while you are recording?
2) The microphone on your smartphone may be of much higher quality than that of a laptop microphone.
3) I know it shouldn't make any difference, but can you get your microphone closer to your instrument ?

You could probably write an Audacity Macro to do that ...

Peter.
Good Idea.

Code: Select all

Cut:
SelectAll:
Paste:
Does it. Just assign a keyboard shortcut to the macro.

If I import or open a sound file in audacity, and do edits, are the changes destructive?
Yes. What steve says.

Note that there are an *unlimited* number of undo's. But all of these undo's will be lost after you save the project and reload it.

Re: Poping/Static - not my equipment?

Also especially on Windows, you want to check that all of your sampling rates are the same. Check the Audacity's project rate at the lower left-hand corner of the screen. This should be the same as the Windows rate: right-click on [speaker icon] > Sounds > Recording > [Behringer UM2 USB] > Propertie...
