You can adjust the position of audio clips by dragging left / right with the Time Shift Tool.
Slide the audio clips into position so that they play one after another.

Until one of the Linux elfes can respond, try saving to a different location or to a different directory that you know you have write permission to. Also check that you have no special characters in the file name.
