Re: Linearly increase/reduce intensity

.. change in sound pressure level from 70dB to 55dB... A little trick in Audacity to help you do the fade in/out: If you Generate a 5 second 440Hz tone, and this corresponds to your 75dB, and if you duplicate this track (Ctrl+D), then select this second track, amplify it by some number, say -30, an...

Re: Newbi...getting a buzz sound on my recording.

New to all this. I have a Yeti blue microphone that connects to my PC using USB and trying to record a podcast using Audacity. When I record, I keep hearing a buzzing sound. I do not know if this is a mic issue or a software issue. You can listen to the sample audio at So I can hear some white nois...

Re: Transferring Records HELP!

I'm new to Audacity, though I've seen and heard other people transfer their 78rpm, 45rpm and even LP Records from their record players into Audacity, and I'm attempting to do the same thing here. My set up involves a Dell Latitude and or a Lenovo Idea Pad (I've tried and regularly use both), runnin...

Re: I don't see my form

forgive my ignorance ... should i connect a sound card? No problem. It is easy to get confused here. Your Alesis drum kit supports MIDI and USB. It supports MIDI over USB, but not audio over USB. Audacity supports also MIDI and USB. It supports audio over USB, but not MIDI over USB. :? On page 10 o...

Re: slow visual update waveform/spectrograph

If you reduce the resolution* of the spectrogram it will be drawn quicker, (less processing). If you need higher resolution later you can turn it up after you've made the recording. [* resolution is confusingly called "window size" ... https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/spectrogram_settings.html] ...

Re: Update Build Instructions for Windows, perhaps?

Thank you jademan. Sorry to not check the PR tab on git before asking... Let me try the new instruction. It took me two days to be able to compile using the previous one. (I'm forcing myself to understand more C++) Good, I think the old instructions are a rite of passage thing. They assume t...

Re: Update Build Instructions for Windows, perhaps?

Here is the proposed complete build.txt (there may be 1 warning "Jack" in Cmake which is OK): Instructions for building on Windows. Fuller instructions that include * Installing CMake * Portable Settings * Building an Installer can be found on our wiki at http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Building_O...

Re: Update Build Instructions for Windows, perhaps?

Hello, The build.txt that is on the repo says you have to use Python 2.7 to build Audacity. But it looks like all python 2 scripts has been updated to python3. Am I right? In that case, the instructions on build.txt might needed to be updated. Looking foward to 3.0 release! Thanks! Rafa See this pu...

Re: When zoomed in any edit ..ie..cut, paste zooms back out

Basically, when zoomed in say with a stereo track L&R. When I perform any edit...like cutting, region divide...etc....the view would zoom back way out. It did not do it at first. But shortly after. Now it does it all the time. If I re-install the software, it would be fine...but again after a few e...
