imperfect copy of tape

Hi All, I've moved from my vinyl collection to cassettes. On the tape I'm copying there's a voice speaking through a megaphone (sp?). On the tape it is quite audible, but on the copy it's barely discernible (the voice). It just doesn't come through, for some reason. The recording sounds fine otherwi...

click pop detection

Hi,
I was wondering if there's a way of detecting clicks and pops, other than by listening. My hearing isn't as sharp as it once was, and I suspect those with more sensitive hearing may pick up what I miss.

Re: crashed during noise removal

Hi, I may have found the reason for Audacity's crashing during the Noise Removal process. In the good old days of windows 95/98 I got into the habit of entering the command "conservativeswapfileusage=1" into system.ini, which, I believe, restricts windows use of the swap file. Well, recently I did a...

Flv to MP3 plus modifications

Hi, I have an Flv file that I'm going to convert to MP3 but I want to change it. It has a loud audience ovation at the beginning and end that I would like to dampen. (I can't remove this and still maintain the integrity of the piece.) So, my questions are - 1)Do I convert to Mp3 or ??? and do the da...

still crashing during noise removal

Hi,
I'm still having crashed during noise removal on large files. This one is a 9and 1/2 minute recoring of Bolero. Any thoughts would be appreciated. My drive has 22 gigs of free space, recently defragged.

Re: Gramofile

Thanks WC, I think you recommended this post to me before. I'm trying to get a free utility for removing clicks; not so much because it's free, but because I don't like to give out my credit information, and it's very hard to get anything these days without doing so. I didn't see any mention of Gram...

Gramofile

Hi, I've been fiddling around with Gramofile, to see if it will do a better job or removing ticks than Audacity, but I can't quite get it to work. (I 'think' that it doesn't recognize the Audacity wav export file?) Does anyone have any experience with this program? Is it worth pursuing as a click re...

reducing harshness

Hi, I have a piece of music that has a lot of percussion in it (MP3). I don't think it's a particularly good quality, as the drums have a harsh hard sound, as if the treble it too high. Other than just dulling it with bass boost (which does help), are there other functions I might try to reduce the ...
