Okay, I've taken a deep breath and told myself everything is going to be okay.
I looked for Tiger on the Apple site ... looks like they don't sell it anymore.
If I find a friend that has it, I'm assuming I can borrow it and install without a problem?

Re: exported files cause crash
Also, I'm wondering-- and thanks again for all your help, I'm so grateful-- what would be the point to wiping the OS since you say it's not recommended to update a 10.3.9 machine to QT 7? After I reinstall the OS, won't I be in the same spot ... i.e. I need QT 7 to be able to handle Audacity files b...

Re: exported files cause crash
Everything stands on QT services. I'm surprised that you could back up to an earlier version and everything would still work. Actually, it doesn't, does it? I would expect iTunes to be profoundly unhappy with you and I bet some of your library vanishes. It DID work ... and then it didn't. I did crea...

Re: exported files cause crash
Okay, I just tried opening my quicktime app and it crashes every time. I think we may have found the issue. More background: I've had problems with quicktime messing up video playback in iMovie and FCE in the past, so recently when I was troubleshooting I downgraded my QT to 6.5.2 (I was running QT ...

Re: exported files cause crash
BTW, I'm able to import non-Audacity files (e.g. music files from cds, etc.) into FCE, no problem.

Re: exported files cause crash
Okay, I downloaded and ran MacJanitor ... took several minutes and looked like it was doing stuff.
Then I restarted and tried to import sound file into new FCE project ...
Crash.
Any suggestions you have would be really appreciated.

Re: exported files cause crash
Thanks for replying so quickly. My system drive has 8 GB free (of a total 28 GB drive). I have verified and repaired permissions several times recently on this drive. "Do you perform the "periodic" command line tools or run MacJanitor?" I don't know about command line tools or MacJanitor ... please ...
