Thanks for your reply, Koz.
I usually export in AIFF or MP3 and have never chosen to export files in the WAV format because I thought it was only recognizable by IBM type PCs. I assume from your response that this is not the case and will give it a try.

Re: Orphaned/Missing Audio Blockfields Problem
Thanks, Koz, for your reply. The hard drive is rather large, 640GB and not anywhere close to being full. I only use an external drive to back up my files so it is never on and I haven't been managing any of the files, that I' m aware of, outside of Audacity. In other words, I am simply recording a v...

Orphaned/Missing Audio Blockfields Problem
I have found a new problem with Audacity 1.3.7. It will not reconstitute something it has saved, whether it was saved yesterday or 2 minutes ago. There are two warning/error messages that pop up. The first asks about removing orphaned files, which seems to tie in with editing done on a project and see...

Re: clipping/distorted tracks while recording
The prefs were set for 44000 and originally 24 bit, but I changed it to 16bit. I wasn't referring to the built-in mic, although that is an option but rather the input on the lower rear of the IMac screen next to the USB slots which is selectable between mic and audio line-in. I suspect that input is ...

Re: clipping/distorted tracks while recording
The IMac is a new 20" 2GB Intel unit,so I'd be surprised if that is the problem, although I suppose it is possible. There is a both an input and output on the back of the screen and my speakers are hooked up to the output, so I naturally assumethat the input would take the guitar because my Power PC ...

Re: clipping/distorted tracks while recording
Koz, The input level on the meters does not look particularly low but the playback waveform is not nearly like previously recorded tracks and there is also the clipping or distortion on the guitar track when I'm listening to it. I have tried switching guitars and cables but nothing seems to change t...

clipping/distorted tracks while recording
I haven't found any answers to this problem on the forum,so here it is: I have recently been experiencing tracks that are coming out somewhat distorted and at a lower level than they used to be (I have to put the input level almost all the way up to get audible sound). I am using Audacity1.3.7 for M...

Re: Audacity Crashes when I hit Record button
Thanks Koz & Steve for your help. I should have mentioned that I'm using an older MAC PPC G4 running 10.4.11. Will that make any difference in the procedure for trashing the Preferences file?

Re: Audacity Crashes when I hit Record button
Steve,
If I upgrade to 1.3 will it affect any tracks/projects that were done in 1.2 or should the transition be fairly smooth?
Thanks for your response,
Craig
