I will physically disconnect the Presonus overnight and launch it again in the morning and see.

I didn't know about Transport>REscan but that will be my next project.

Leaving Audacity open with a blank screen works. I could use all functions normally. I will do this for a day or two to prove the point.

The exception error occured first when attempting to open a project. The not responsive error occurs when I try to perform any task, including changing from Presonus to the onboard sound card. In the 'unresponsive mode............clicking Tone works but no functions of the transport work.

I trust your judgement I will try leaving my project saved but I won't close Audacity.

Only one copy of Audacity was running at the time but look at the symbols to the left of each 'Audacity". That comes up in the task manager each time Audacity tells me it's not responding.
