After I export a project as an MP3 file, is there any reason to keep the Audacity data files and if so.........how big are those files. When I tried to save my last project Audacity told me that it was a 23 minute save...........and when I cancelled the program crashed.
Any help out there

Re: Learning about Audacity
The envelope tool works perfectly. Now, does anyone know of a good, CHEAP site for royalty free music?

Learning about Audacity
I'm learning as I go and enjoying it very much. As a learning experience I created a project in which a music bed starts on one track, the music drops in level and a voice track takes over. At the end, the music fades up for a few seconds and gradually fades to silence. What I need to know. Is there...

Monitoring
The older edition of Audacity gave me the option of monitoring the input from my A/D converter. I don't seem to have that option with 1.3......or do I?

Re: Desktop enhancement
Thanks Wax. I made the upgrade to 1.3 but I still don't seem to see the option for making desktop changes. 1.2 had floating options but not the ability to save them. 1.3 doesn't even seem to go that far unless I'm missing something.

Desktop enhancement
Each time I open Audacity I make certain desktop changes such as floating certain toolbars and resizing windows. I would like to make those changes occur automatically when I reopen the program but I see no global preferences option.
Any suggestions?

Sample Rate
Where can I check the sample rate on saved MP 3 files? I see that my bit rate is 128KBPS but I want to check the sample rate.
Thanks

Re: Saving preferences
You're right, there really is no way to save changes to the desktop from project to project. I think I'll live with it until 1.3 becomes stable.
Thanks for all the help, everyone.

Re: Saving preferences
I tried repositioning and resizing the meter toolbar but when reopening I see that it has returned to the docked state. I would also like to permanently resize the audio track window to make it larger. I know I can do that with each new project but I was really trying to make permanent changes in th...
