Msconfig indicates that WMPNSCFG is in the startup configuration but not WMPnetwk.Gale Andrews wrote: If wmpnetwk.exe still runs even when you are set not to share, I would suggest running MSCONFIG. This will save you having to manually close processes when you want to record.

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Do the recording glitches (that are in the same place) also become less frequent the more processes you close - I thought they did? ......... Yes You need to experiment with what works for you. Note that setting also affects playback as well as recording. ........... I'll try that I would assume you...

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
FYI Attached is a log from a brand new, unrecorded Audacity desktop. Does the presence of errors indicate that there is an inherent problem with the program itself? 14:25:55: Error: Couldn't find symbol 'MainPanelFunc' in a dynamic library (error 127: the specified procedure could not be found.) 14:...

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Hi Gale First of all thank you for joining the discussion, certainly the more input we have here the more likely we are to solve this. Let's start with this recording 'glitch' which I call a skip because it sounds to me like a vinyl record that's been scratched. I can certainly hear the glitch.....s...

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Hi Edgar. Finally I did record something with a 'skip in it' The skip is repeatable and occurs at the same place with each playback. I did copy the log for this session. My question is......what information do you want. Should I send the saved session ( it's roughly 1 minute of recorded voiceover co...

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Ok Edgar, will do.
You know, of course that I won't get a skip for the next 100 tries, and that's certainly a good thing. I'll keep you posted and send the log.

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Thanks Koz
There are some very interesting things in that Cakewalk Forum and I may now have to do some hard investigation into how much power the US 122 is drawing off it's USB port.

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Hi Edgar 90% of the time the 'skip' in the audio is repeatable when I replay it. It remains in the exported MP3 file. It is definitely a recording problem since the 'skip' is in the same place each time. Occasionally I'll hear a 'skip' in playback (Always through headphones by the way) and when I re...

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Hi Edgar and thank you for your input. Let me start by saying that the problem began when I first downloaded Audacity1.3. The problem manifested itself as a small 'skip' much like the skip of a vinyl record that was jarred or scratched. I have eliminated about 90% of the problem by closing every ope...

Re: Audio Breakup with 1.3.8
Hi Koz
I backup on a weekly basis.
Running XP SP3 with 207gigs out of 227 available. I have the maximum memory installed and I do defrag regularly. I also use CCleaner and PC Tuneup on a biweekly basis. And yes........we're running out of ideas.
