I have had my usb mic plugged in the entire time. I have turned off my computer. And closed audacity all the way, and still nothing

So I have looked through the forum, and I have tried everything, but my usb microphone does not show up as an option for audacity. I looked in the preferences and Audacity has access to record audio.
