Audacity was crashing every time when pressing Play (Spacebar or clicking on the Play button). I had spent hours trying to fix this issue on Big Sur Beta with Audacity 2.4.1 and then I updated it to 2.4.2. Changing the sampling rate to 32000 Hz on all my tracks fixed the issue for me.
