That direcory: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/SessionData is created by audacity on the first attempt to run the app Here is what gets created: ~/Libtatry/----| Application Support ------| audacity -----| audacity.cfg SessionData-----| nothing else exists in the audacity folder.

Alright, I found a workaround: So, yes, there is some kind of issue with the SessionData folder, even though there doesn't seem to be a problem with writing the audaicty.cfg and creating the SessionData folder as indicated by others seeing these being created after a reinstall.
