aha i see! its a usb turntable and if i just unhook the usb cable the sound works again!

and i just discovered that vlc or media player are unable to produce sound with any other audio/video file on my comp. ?!?
since i installed audacity!!!

what's up with that?

if i export a song to mp3 or wav and try to play it with vlc or media player there's no sound.
if i import it back to audacity there's sound again....????

what do i do???
